the day i found out the sex in my 20 week scan we went on a shopping spree!
If your not going to find out the gender, i would say anytime after 12 weeks when miscarriage rate has dropped substantially
I would start buying soon. My wife and I already have a lot of baby clothes and we aren’t even pregnant yet.
i started buying after i found out who i was having. That way you know what section to go to in the store. So just wait till you find out.
I don’t think that matters if you want to buy stuff just get it. You don’t want to wait tell the end and you have to spend all your money at once.
I didn’t start buying anything until I found out what I was having with my 1st. This time I’m getting a head start. I’m 12 weeks and have started buying the necessaties, i.e. diapers, socks, onesies, burp rags, bottles, and binkies. You have no idea how many diapers you go threw right away so start buying now so it won’t catch you off guard financially. Overall though, start buying whenever, if money is tight buy small important stuff throughout the pregnancy. Don’t worry about clothes too much, you get that at the baby shower. Good luck!
im 17 wks ive started picking clothing baby gros and small thing like that and leaving all the big stuff pram cot ect till the end i did the same with my other 2
my boyfriend (baby’s daddy) bought me a little jumpsuit set the week we found out, but that was because it was my birthday a few days after i found out and he wanted to be the first one to buy something. Other than that … i was probably like 20 something weeks before we really bought anything, haven’t yet got furniture but i am inheriting most of it so we don’t have to buy anything really.
If you’re going to have a baby shower i would suggest leaving most things (other than furniture) until after that because you’ll get LOTS of stuff and that will cut down on your personal shopping list.
If you realyl feel that you need to buy something stock up on things like nappies (not too many newborns though) and wipes etc, and also buy some blankets and things like that that you can never have too many of.
Congratulations and good luck, hope i have been of help
Generally after the first trimester, but I held off until after I found out the sex of the baby on my 19th week. One thing that you should consider is that baby stuff is expensive and that you don’t want to wait too long if you have to buy most of it yourself if money is an issue. No matter what, keep the receipts.
I bought some things asap (the night after the I found out)…then I cooled my jets. I really didn’t start to make purchases until around 5 – 6 mos. Just things I knew I had to have for the baby. You will get a lot at your shower (probably not what is on your registry lol), but gifts and monetary gifts too. I didn’t purchase the big items like a crib and stroller/car seat until I was 36 weeks, i wouldn’t advise waiting that long! I had my baby at 38 weeks, so the room was just about ready when she arrived.
Aim to get most things between 6-8 mos…you still feel good, and it will be one less thing to think about once you hit the 9 month mark.
It is normal to worry, but at 15 weeks, the risks are tremendously reduced from the 1st trimester. Relax and enjoy your pregnancy, and congrats!!
you can start anytime you want now, if your still not really comfy, or you’d prefer to do things that relate to the gender wait til that ultrasound, however you can still put money aside each week that you “would’ve” spent. That way you can do a ton of shopping all at once. my hubby and i have a few things, and we asked for baby stuff at christmas, and now i’m at 33 weeks and haven’t really splurged on much but clothes, cause i have two baby showers in the next two weeks, so whatever i don’t get at those we’re gonna go shopping for.
Well, it’s your baby and as a mother to be no one feels the excitement to the extent that you do. I understand that you don’t want to rush ahead while God forbid something happens to the baby. My in laws pretty much prevented me from buying ANYTHING, not even a sign for the baby’s room because they believed I should wait to make sure the baby is safe first. After delivery though, I regret listening to them because who better to buy my baby things other than me and my husband. I guess you should wait to at least know the baby’s sex, that way you can buy the appropriate stuff. You can buy unisex things, but that’s up to you as well.
I didn’t go shopping for my daughter until I was about 28-31 wks and even then I didn’t buy clothing or bottles etc. just the cradle, seating (baby papas-an), swing mainly big things and the rest I got at my baby shower.
I haven’t gone shopping for this baby girl yet I was thinking that I should because I am SO ready for her I know what to expect and have a better idea of what I like for her to have and what really is unnecessary..y’know with your first you tend to buy alot of things that in the end you don’t even use..I was a victim of that but not this time around..then again..LOL
my cookie will be born in summer so it’s a new thing for me, my oldest was a winter baby. I’m SO excited
Anyway, Congrats and Good Luck!!
if this is your first pregnancy then wait until you know the sex if not your first then buy whenever you see something youlike cause i can tell you knwo it moves so fast in the baby department that what you like may not be there later. im on my fourth and i hav ealready bought a swing and one outfit and bottles and pacies and a pacie holder. so if you know what you want then buy it. that way your gauranteed to get what you want. but it does help to know the sex.
