She has had a rash for over a week now and it has gotten so bad that it has been bleeding and her skin looks like it is healing off. I have caked her in desitin maximum strength and beaudroux’s butt creme and nothing is working. I change her diaper right after she goes so I dont know what else to do. I feel so bad for her cause she screams everytime I wipe her.

Lotriman for jock itch please, keep her bottom dry after rinsing with water by blow drying on the cool/cold setting. She has a yeast infection on her bottom and it hurts.
Seriously, Lotriman made for jock itch which is what this is (it isn’t a vaginal yeast infection). Apply every time you change her bottom until the rash fades, then apply twice a day for an additional 4-5 days.
She should be seen by pediatrician. Some diaper rashes are fungal in nature and cannot be cured with over the counter stuff. Since the desitin, etc isnt working that may be a clue that its something more advanced than just plain old diaper rash. Ive run into this with my kids too. After I used the prescribed stuff, the rash improved within a couple days! Good luck.
Poor baby! It could be the type of diapers she’s wearing! Pampers gives my baby diaper rash something fierce. Or it could be the size of diaper. Diaper rash is caused when too much moisture is trapped. Try drying her off one she’s wiped or consider cloth diapers. More than anything tell her doctor.
Ditch the wipes. Sometimes that can make the rash worse. Rinse or soak her bottom instead.
Also, a bad continuous diaper rash could be an indicator something else is wrong.
I would take her in to her doctor to be seen. They can also write you a prescription for a diaper rash that usually works better than over the counter ones.
she should be seen by her pediatrician but my daughter was in the same position as you…i tried everything…cornstartch, buttpaste, triple paste, desitin extra strength nothing worked till dr recommend a&d ointment and a prescribed oinment you should take her in
She really needs to be seen by her doctor.
You may need to change brands. I know my daughter had a terrible rash and changing diapers really helped. Butt paste did as well.. but looks like you tried that. Our ped said airing it out was very helpful as well but difficult because she was walking and there was no way to keep her from going in the house. She also recommended petroleum jelly.
Regardless, that sounds like a serious rash and she absolutely needs to go to the doctor. Good luck, hope she feels better soon! It’s the worst seeing your baby in pain.
My son had a diaper rash just like that when he was a month old. We realized the brand of baby wipes was making the rash worse. A combination of A&D Ointment and Triple Paste (Boudreaux’s should work – you want the Zinc Oxide) worked for my son. My husband prefers to use A&D and I prefer to use Triple Paste. So depending on who was changing his diaper determined which cream he got. He did get both types throughout the day (we didn’t put them both on at the same time). It took a few days for him to heal.
I’ve also heard that breastmilk or Lansinoh works too. Lanolin is a main ingredient in the A&D Ointment so I believe the Lansinoh would work. I never tried these methods though.
Until the rash goes away use a washcloth and water or with some baby wash to clean her instead of wipes. Pat her dry. I’d start with the Lansinoh or A&D until her skin starts healing. Then try the Butt Paste. If you use the Butt Paste you shouldn’t need the Desitin. If you can let her go without a diaper for a little while each day that would really help her.

As others have said…it sounds like a yeast infection and she needs to be seen by a doctor. If the anti fungal
medication they usually prescribe doesn’t work…ask for “happy hiney” or “butt paste”…it’s a formula most doctors and pharmacists are familiar with…each has their own “magic” formula…works WONDERS…I cried more than my son when his appeared overnight…and was so bad it bled within two days of appearing (skin looked like it was being eaten away)…in the meantime before u get to the doctor…don’t use wipes…take her to the sink and use mild soap (like cetaphil) and warm water with a soft wash cloth to clean her…pat dry with another soft wash cloth and try and let her go a little while without a diaper… Best of luck
aww poor baby!…instead of just wiping her try rinsing her little butt after every pooped diaper and make sure her bottom is dry before you put the diaper on..also,let her little bottom get some fresh air for a few minutes few times a day…good luck with your little one
My baby had a horrible diaper rash for weeks. I tried everything. Desitin, Dr smiths cream, a&d, vasoline, aloe vera, baby powder, Biff paste, everything! Finally a second Dr told me it was a fungal infection. He prescribe a cream and it cleared up within three days. Try hydrocortosine cream 1%
Ethel is correct. Lotramin. If you take her to the pediatrician they will give you a the prescription version (Nystatin) of the same thing. Desitin and Butt Paste wont do a thing because she has a little yeast infection going on. ANY place that gets wet can get a yeast infection and the bleeding and peeling you described are a tell tale signs. All three of my kids had the same thing and the pediatrician finally just told me to buy Lotramin or it’s generic store version so I didnt keep having to get prescription refills. I will tell you that the first couple times you use it it might sting but after 2-3 days her rash will more than likely be gone or close to it.
Give her a good bath before bed. Let her little rear air dry totally. Put a good coat of Lotramin on her (don’t rub it in but dont put so much on there that its goopy) and put a light coat of baby powder on top and diaper. For a few days after you change her diaper lay her on a towel and give her a little rinse with plan water and let her air dry and repeat the Lotramin/powdering. You don’t have to do it each time you diaper but do it the majority of the diaper changes. If it doesnt clear up after 3-5 days take her to the pedi because she might have infection from the open sores. Don’t panic about this. I’m sorry for her because I know it’s painful for her but many many kids have gone through this!
