Question by sherry h: 3 week old newborn vomiting after every feeding?
My baby girl is 3 weeks old. I had her on Parents Choice formula ever since she was 5 days old. She was taking it perfect, but now for the last 2 days she has been throwing up all of her milk after her feedings, sometimes projectile vomit. I took her to a doctor but they said keep watch on her and bring her back in 4 days time. Any idea why she is suddenly throwing up from the formula. Also, she started throwing up as soon as i opened a new can of formula (powder). The exp. date is for another year yet but could it possibly be gone bad? I cant really smell anything funny so i dont think it is. What else could be making her sick like this? Please help

My little brother had a problem like this, but it wasn’t due to the formula, it was due to the shape of his mouth. He had something called cleft palate, which you can’t actually see from the outside, that was preventing him from holding the nipple right. something about the airflow? caused him to projectile vomit after feeding. Or, you can change cans of formula and see if that helps.

Question by Jamie: I have a 2 week old newborn and just realized her Similac is soy…?
it’s milk free and lactose free, I didn’t mean to buy this, but is it ok that I have been feeding her this for 2 weeks, could this be the reason she sometimes throws up her formula? Is there a regular one I can buy?

As far as the formula goes they always tell you to check with a ped. first. Here is a website for you www.similac.com Not sure if that is why baby is throwing up…

Question by rkargo: my 2 week is fussy, gasy, projectile vomit. any moms with experience with this?
i tried to breasfeedpump breast milk for my daughter for the first 10 days. she was not nursing well, and i was not pumping enough milk. she has been getting supplement formula since the hospital. starting 3 days ago we have been doing similac sensative formula in dr. drown bottle. she always seems gasy and has about 5 episodes of projectile vomit since last week. this happened even when she was getting mostly breast milk. i have been giving her gas medicine at feeding, burping her frequently, keeping her upright after feedings. she doesnt seem content after feedings, crys, tenses up. she is only sleeping like 1 hr at time. she seems hungry all the time, eating between 3-4 oz every 2 to 2.5 hrs. i have called the doctor. she is having me see how the wkend goes then call back next wk. any advie from anyone??
she does keep formula down. she only projectile vomits maybe 1 x everyother day. She has good wet dipers all the time and dirty as well. that is why the doctor is having me call again next week. of course if it gets worse the doc wants me to call earlier.

My personal opinion is that projectile vomiting is not okay. I would ask to be seen by a doc tomorrow. My husband had to have surgery at 6 weeks old for pyloric stenosis, the main symptom is projectile vomiting.

Question by Nicole: 10 week old vomiting forcefully?
My son had GERD. Pediatrician put him on Similac Isomil with a teaspoon of baby rice to weigh it down and make it stay down.
All went well for weeks.. But this past week.. he’s been projectile vomiting every day. FORCEFULLY. It looks painful and uncomfortable.
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.. He also cries for about 3 hours right at 7 o’clock at night lately. If it was colic, wouldn’t he have already been doing it? I don’t understand

All I can tell you is to take your baby to the doctor, you don’t want your baby to dehydrate. The doctor can tell you if you are doing something wrong.
