Question by Funny Bunny XD: How Can I tell when i have projectile vomiting before i start to throw up?
I know this sounds appalling, But this is a serious question.
In my area there has been a out burst of a REALLY bad sick bug that causes projectile vomiting and a really bad stomach. Some people at the local school had it and I keep having horrible overthrows of nausea. its ruining my life and i can’t concentrate. I went to the doctors and they said that they were not sure what it was. If it was projectile vomiting, would i just throw up or would i feel ill and it happen later?
(Eww, I know this question is a bit, well, gross, but i do feel really sick…..)

The bug in question is probably Norovirus, or Norwalk. It’s fairly violent of an infection, but fairly short lived. Some people are sicker than others when they get it.
If you do get the bug, you will probably have severe nausea, vomiting and diarrhea for about 24-48 hours. Some people this lasts about 72 hours, but the shorter course is more the norm. You may or may not feel better after vomiting; that will depend on you and how the virus is with your body. You may have the bug now, and all it’s causing you is nausea.
If you’re feeling ill, try going home and resting. Stay warm and hydrated, and take small sips of fluids. Again, it’s going to depend on you, but you may feel better on an empty stomach – some people feel better if nauseated to have something in them, even if it means throwing it up.
Wash your hands often, and stay out of the kitchen and food prep areas. Stay away from sick people if you can.
The thing about this bug is is makes people feel so awful they wish it they could die, and about the time they think they might, they start to feel better.
There’s not much you can do once you have it, but to stay as comfortable as possible, stay as hydrated as possible, and avoid transmitting it to others.
You can do a search “Norwalk virus” for more information than you ever wanted.
Hope you feel better soon.
