Q&A: Im Pregnant and I Want a New Job…….?
Question by Kotie: Im Pregnant and I Want a New Job…….?
Ok, so here’s the situation. I have been working at the same place for a while now. I found out I was pregnant in September of 09 (a couple of days before I missed my period) Anyway, The job that I have is in sales. Its a very cut throat environment. Imagine being micro-managed, supervisors telling you that you dont have enough song in your voice when you leave messages, employees stealing your sales, etc. Also the company says that there are no sales quotas but if you don’t meet a certain number at the end of the month, they put you on a list and in three months you’re fired (I know it sounds bad, but I’ve seen it happen to plenty of people) The problem is, this company pays salary so everyone wants to work there because its guaranteed money…(until you start working there and find out just how expendable you are). They have the type of attitude that clearly states, you can be replaced with the snap of a finger so we don’t need you.
When I found out I was pregnant, i was have morning sickness (throwing up in my desk trash can) and my boss walks by and says, “hurry up and get that out so you can get back to work”
I did so much explaining how this place is so that I don’t get any answers that encourage me to stay there. So since I’ve been there, i have consistently been looking for another job. I found one that I am really interested in, but I’m concerned now that I’m seven months. Just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean that I don’t need to support myself. Also, my fiance is employed, and we do live together. So don’t think I’m this single mother looking for a handout. I am only trying to switch my career, right before my baby is due. As soon as he is born, I plan to get right back out there. Or I could work from home, as long as I’m making some sort of income before and after giving birth to my child.
ok, I pay for medical insurance out of pocket. I will still be covered if I decide to quit my job. Also, I have already spoken with the unemployment office. The fact is, if you are fired, your employer has the right to say “no” to paying your it. If they say no, then you can appeal the decision in 30 days. So basically its not worth it.
My question was basically was it a good Idea to switch jobs right before my baby is born. What could my new employer do if I started work and then had to leave to have a baby.
FOR THE RECORD, I AM NOT INTERESTED IN ANY LOANS FOR ANY REASON….PLEASE DON’T SOLICIT TO ME BECAUSE THATS NOT AT ALL WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR. THANK YOU

The explanations are no help, and you can’t work at home as those jobs don’t exist.
No one will hire you when you’re pregnant…sucks but true. Look for a job after the baby comes and you can devote your full attention to it.
