Question by silly willy: 7 month old baby vomiting after eating solids, what is it ? read:?
My dear friend’s 7 month old is projectile vomiting now that he has been introduced to Gerber solids of bananas, or carrots, he seems to tolerate pears a bit better. I just found out that he has only pooped once a week since he was born. She has taken him to the dr. about the constipation and the pediatrician says it is OK, but now the vomiting. What do you alternative medicine or experienced with this think ? I know about pyloric stenosis and FPIES , but just what I’ve read online. Both she and I disagree about the once a week bowel movement and also now the projectile vomiting after introducing solids. He weight is fine but he has slowed down gaining since solids were introduced ? He has red hair and very fair skin. I would appreciate experienced answers only, not sites to look at, thanks so much,
Bless you
My friend has contacted the pediatrician and this western medicine pediatrician has been monitoring this baby for 7 months like a normal baby dr. schedule, but both the mommy and I have a gut feeling this is not normal and neither is the projectile vomiting. I went to babycenter.com and they gave me some answers, so I want people who have experience, please , not telling us who to see !

Question by dnereid: 7 month old vomiting after formula/milk (but not solids). Lactose intolerance? Stomach virus?
My 7 mo old son has been projectile vomiting milk/formula for the past 24 hours. I switched from Similac to Enfamil, no change. He either throws up right after feeding 2-3 oz (vs usual 5-6 oz) or after 30-60 min (curdled vomit). I am not sure if he is tolerating breastmilk, he doesnt want to nurse more than a couple of minutes. He’s keeping solids (BRAT diet) down mostly, but has projectile vomited apple juice. His tummy looks full even though he’s eaten < 6-7 oz of solids and 2-3 oz net of any milk all day today. Bowel/urine are ok so far.
My husband has cough/cold, baby probably caught it.
Ped thinks its stomach virus (probably means she has no clue). Can he develop milk allergy this late? What should I do near term?

When he is vomitting you do not give him milk all day, give pedialyte or water but milk is the worse. Take him to the doc just to be sure.

Question by : 4 month old vomiting a diarrhea?
my son is 4 months old and starting monday he has had projectile vomiting (2) and diarrhea (2), then tuesday had diarrhea (1) and projectile vomiting (1). I took him to the doc tuesday and they said it is probably a virus and nothing they could do unless he starts getting dehydrated. Well, the vomiting has stopped though he is still spitting up throughout the day which is not normal for him and his diarrhea has gotten worse. He is just passing fluids, there is no solid to it any more. I dont think he is dehydrated, he is still peeing, but how long should I wait to take him back? He is not eating as much as he normally does and has lost a few ounces which isn’t much but still…
i tried to give him the pedialit the doc gave me but he wont take it. he is eating his formula but not as much as he was before monday. i have acid reflux problems, could he have gotten it from me?

Question by Chelsea.: Three month old and projectile vomit?
My Gwendolynn is three months and almost two weeks old and she has projectile vomit at least five times a day. I do not breast feed because I have depression and I have to go on certain anti- depressants and I would like to not be heckled about it either, please. She is on Early Advance formula, the first formula my Similac they give them in the hospital. She was born at seven even pounds and only weighs about nine now. When I feed her, I make sure she is in an upright position and I do not lay her down or sit her down for twenty minutes after feedings. I also burp her at every ounce. Her doctor said she isn’t worried about it, but when she pukes, it tears her throat up and from all the trauma from puking and it bleeds a little. We were told it is acid reflux once and then we were told it was normal. I do not know what to do and was wondering if anyone else dealt with this?
I have a few toher questions…
-Should I take her to a different doctor?
-There is also a muscle in the stomach that is under developed in some babies, could this also be it? ( assuming that you have dealt with that also.)
- And could it be her formula that is doing it?
Thank you, Her doctor won’t put her on anything because she “changed” her mind about acid. I put cereal in her formula and it doesn’t help much either. ): I will be finding a new pediatrician on Monday then. And I am glad that someone knew about the stomach muscle thing. (:

if she has blood in her vomit then yes something is wrong and it should be dealt with ASAP i would get a second opinion it never hurts! yes that muscle does effect it my son had really bad reflex none of the meds work for him so its just a waiting game! you could changer her formula it might help it might not if shes doing fine on it i would leave her! is she taking any meds for her reflex? if not ask for something! also maybe ask about putting cereal in her bottle only a pinch we do it for our son recommended by a few peds and it has helped with the spitting up!
** if shes refuses to put her on something then i would get another Ped for sure and hopefully medication will help! but projecting with blood means there is a problem! good luck i hope something will work for her! also she should be worried about her weight gain that’s not very much!

Question by A_McShay: 8 Month Old and Projectile Vomit PLEASE READ!!!!?
My son will be 8 months old on the 15th! He has NEVER had a problem with vomiting or spitting up! He has vomited 1 time and he was like 3 weeks old. I just feed him his bed time bottle, 8oz like usual. He actually only ate 7oz and was asleep. He started to move, like he had to burp or something? So I I set him up right (like you do when your burp babies) and went to burp him. He vomited his WHOLE bottle!!! This has never happened before, so I am not sure what is wrong? He is formula fed, so it is not something I had to eat. We both do have a cold, but nothing huge…no temps. He is in his crib right now, so I can settle down…….FREAKED ME OUT BIG TIME!! He is wide awake now! I am wondering, how long before I make him another bottle? He vomited everything up, so I am sure his lil tummy is empty? What could have caused him to vomit in such a way?
But he has NEVER really spit up…he is 8 months old and this is seriously the 2nd time he has vomited!!

It sounds like G.E.R.D (acid reflux). My daughter did this from the time she was 3 months old time just a few months ago and she is almost 3. I took her to her doctors and they put her on medication that tastes horrible but works.
