Question by pucca: why my 19 month old throws up all the time?
ok, so he’s always thrown up since day one. between newborn to 12 month is was projectile. the doc kept telling me this normal. so when he went to his 14 month check i told hes still throwing up. hes under wieght only wieghs 20 lbs. his head circumfrence is nromal. he is allergic to dairy, eggs, and peanut butter. hes slowing growing out of it. he is still on soy next step formula for older babies. ive gone to 3 different docs. they think im just being a first time mom, but then they tell me his too under weight. well he wont keep his food down half the time. please help if you know of something i can suggest to my doc what it might be.
he got tested for acid reflex, and no that isnt the case. i do feed him 6 to 8 small meals a day. i did do a food journal for 3 weeks, they couldnt find anything with that. the throwing up is so ranom. he suppose to have testing for gastro…. but the hospital it atking a lomg time to get him in.

Keep a food log of EVERYTHING he eats and how much he eats. DO this for at least a week. When you go back to the doctor, show them the log. Note on there when he has thrown up and make them listen to you. Being a mom for the first time doesn’t make you stupid but some doctor’s can make you feel that way. Good luck and I hope he gets better soon.

Question by : My 7 month old projectile vomited after giving him his morning breastfeeding?
He’s 7 months today, and as soon as i started to burp him between switching sides he threw up, I’m not sure if he just ate to much or what? he doesn’t have a fever, and hes in no distress nor not acting like himself. Should i wait and see if he does it again then take him to his doctor or call his Dr. now?

If you call his doc now they’ll probably say wait to see if he does it again, since he has no fever. So I would wait. Babies throw up sometimes, even fiercely. But definitely if he does it again call the doc.

Question by Dan B: My 7 month old is projectile vomiting approx once a week. She continues to retch/dry heave for about 2.5hrs?
During this time she is completely lethargic and pale with cold sweats. It only lasts about 3 hours or so and then like a light switch she is back on. No problems (with her stools or fever) in between episodes. It’s not related to anything she ate (different foods each time) with the exception of Enfamil Lipil (which she gets 5 times a day every day). We’ve had an x-ray of her belly and an Upper GI with nothing abnormal found. No evidence of reflux either. This is not just spitting up either (she did that for the first 4 months), I know what that is like. Any thoughts?

Has pyloric stenosis been ruled out? It is a thickening of the stomach muscle which causes food to be violently forced back up. The muscle will thicken more with time and can cause dehydration and starvation eventually if not treated. I would check into it and rule it out just to be sure if you havn’t already. Also, it is more common in boys.

Question by : One month old infant projectile vomiting/spitting up?
My 1 month old daughter is bottle fed (Similac Advance) and we have noticed that she has been puking after most of her feedings. She drinks about 2oz of baby formula every 2 hours and I burp her halfway through the bottle and when she finishes and she still continues to vomit. As a new parent, this raises concern for me! I discussed it with her doctor and he told me that it’s completely normal since she has been gaining weight sufficiently. Any advice on this situation? Do you think it’s necessary to switch her formula to one for stomach sensitivity or a soy-based formula?

my son did that on enfamil newborn, he was allergic to it.. i now have him on enfamil prosobee ( soy ) and he just spits up normally.. she may be allergic to the formula.. id try a soy based one and see how she does

Question by Amber M: Spontaneous Projectile Vomiting from a 6 month old puppy?
Great title huh? Its not so great at 3 am 4ft from where he was laying. Herky, my Old English Bulldog puppy of 6 months has been doing this 1-3 times a week. Its not accompanied with any other symptoms; no diarrhea, no odd behavior, no abdomen swelling, nothing at all. He eats Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy, 3 3/4ths a cup, split into two servings. As of today, I’m doing 3 servings, a cup each. I water his food down and make sure its mushy before I give it to him. I’ve given him Pepto Bismal and occasionally rice/boiled chicken after I’ve taken his food and water up for 12 hours. I feed him at 7-7:30am and 6:30-7pm, and like I said, as of today, 1 cup at 12. I’m not noticing any discomfort. We’ve (my fiance’ and I have tried just about everything) taken up edible bones and no more treats/biscuits. I’m completely out of ideas and I don’t want to spend a fortune at the vets office right before the Holidays. Any more suggestions?

Maybe the food isn’t agreeing with him.
If he keeps vomitting the best thing to do would be to take him to the vet.
