Question by : How long do you give a new baby formula a try before you switch?
My baby is 4 1/2 months old. He was born premature 6 1/2 weeks early. So his corrected age is 3 months old. He’s been taking breastmilk from a bottle from the day he was born. So he have no problem taking a bottle. I am getting a little tired from all the pumping. And I have a lot of breast milk in stock (3 months worth if my baby takes nothing but breastmilk) I am trying to transition him into half breast milk, half formula so my stocked breast milk can last longer (for another 6 months or so). We just started one formula brand recommended by his ped. I gave my baby 1:3 ratio of 1 part formula to 3 parts breast milk. First day he did ok in the morning. Then he started to fuss more in the afternoon, but still takes the mixed milk ok. By night he threw up almost all the milk he takes in. My question is: How long should I give this brand of formula a try before I start on another? And should I be adding in the formula slower than what I’m doing? Like give him a mixed milk only once a day for a few days then 2 bottles a day for a few day and so forth. I fed him mixed milk on all the feedings today, so I’m not sure if it’s too fast even if it’s 1:3 ratio?

I think the ratio and the amount you are giving is adequate. It can take up to 2 weeks for new formula to be in the system (for a lack of better words). If he’s still getting sick Thursday, I’d definitely call the dr.

Question by : My 5 week old is vomiting all her formula whats wrong?!?
I have a 5 week old baby girl. She’s curently on soy formula because the regular 1 would make her constipated. She has always spit up and lately she has been projectile vomiting all of her formula everytime she eats. I always burp her and I already tried feeding in smaller amounts. But nothing. What can I do and what do u think it is?

I think you should give your doctor a call and ask them, because it can be the formula. Poor baby try and get help from a doctor asap so she won’t get dehidrated from all the vomiting.

Question by Megan: Formula Problems.?
I have a two week old New born. I was unable to breast feed. SO the hospital gave him enfamil with iron, that made him sick. So we started enfamil gentlease, But that seems to be making him really gassy with a upset tummy. He throws up ALOT he just dont seem to be doing well with that either. I was wondering if enfamil Prosobee would work better or if anyone would know what might work better? thanks

first off, talk to your pediatrician if you have one. changing formulas too often can cause upset tummy for baby.
I don’t know enough about prosobee. I used GoodStart because it was easy on the tummy and I read the ingredients. it was the only one that started with milk parts. but really, talk to a doc.
What do you think? Answer below!

I need to know how to measure the formula per ounce because the scoop is missing from the can of formula for the baby that I am babysitting. It gives you the grams in the scoop but I just need to know how much to put in a 4 ounce bottle.
Someone please help!!!
