Question by ECCB: My baby is 9 mos. old and throws up after drinking juice, her formula and water. She doesn’t throw up food. ?
I still burp her because sometimes she doesn’t. I feed her in an upright position and when she sleeps, her head is raised. She eats about every three hours. The doctors keep telling me it’s common and by her first birthday she should be over it. There is lots of phlegm mixed in with it. She’s gaining weight so there is no problem there. She’s very active. This has been going on since she was a newborn. She was breast fed and threw up the milk also. I usually let her tell me when she’s hungry, I was afraid I was over feeding her.

Question by Gisele C: I am switching my baby back from Nutramigen to Good start!?
My baby has had a milk protein intolerance (projectile vomiting 2 or 3 times a day) since she was 3 weeks old, The doctor put her on Nutramigen and the vomiting stoped. Nos she is 7 months old and the ped. told me I can try to switch her back to regular formula (i’m trying Good start) and see how she does. So far she has been on the Good start formula 3 days and seems to be doing great. How long will it take to know if she has really outgrowed the allergy? I would like to hear from other parents with similar situations, or babies with allergies. Thanks so mcuh!

Well, my daughter is 2 years old now, but I had a similar situation with her when she was on formula. I breastfed for the first 5 months and started her on regular Similac formula…it was horrible! She had horrible stomach pains and cried constantly. We tried Good Start too and it seemed like it was working at first, but then after a few days she was back in pain. We tried Soy also, didn’t work. The only one that worked for our daughter was Similac Alimentum. I know it is super expensive, but we decided once she was on it and it worked for her, we weren’t going to switch her to any other formula. If your daughter does good on the Good Start, then that’s great, but if not, I would def. put her back on Nutramigen until you are ready to stop formula. Oh, and we stopped formula at around 13 months and she now drinks Lactaid with no problems. One last thing, since the hypoallergenic formulas are so expensive, our ped. gave us a lot of samples every time we went for check-ups. You might look into that. Good luck!

Question by MrsLuzius: My Baby gets car sick. Any suggestions?
My little girl is fourteen months old. Ever since she was born she has hated riding in the car. She’ll throw fits and generally just whine and shreak the whole time she’s in the car. About a month ago she started throwing up in the car. She’ll just start whining then she gets sick all over the place. It’s not because she’s crying to hard because she doesn’t get that overwraught. I don’t know what to do, after she gets sick she fine. I however am running out of stain remover, and my new car smells quite pungent. I would appreciate any and all suggestions.
I have tried food and drink but that only seems to make it worse. She doesn’t cry enough to make herself sick she just whines, irritating as it is.
Holly sits in a forward facing car seat. My car is lower to the ground so she can see out of the car quite well, it’s the motions of the car, especially when we are making a lot of turns.

I’d talk to your doc at her age she probably could take dramamine or something like that before car trips, they make a less drowsy version of it now too! Good Luck

Question by deans_mom: Baby is vomiting?
My 9 month old is projectile vomiting ( not spitting up.. I do know the difference) at least 4 times a day and has been for about 5 days now. He is running a low grade fever that goes down right away with tylenol. He vomits randomly and every time he eats and has a bottle. I took him to the dr. Yesterday and they said that they couldn’t find anything wrong, and its probably a virus. She told me to give him pedialite (which he keeps vomiting up) and that if his temp gets higer than 102 and he vomits more then 4 times that he needs to be seen. I don’t know what to do! He has vomited 4 times already today and is very fussy and i think he is starting to get dehydrated, how can I help him?
I took him back to the dr and she said that he is mildly dehydrated and to keep giving him pedialite…. even though he keeps throwing it up. I guess I will just keep taking him in every day until they get sick of seeing me and do something for him!
