Question by prp: My five month old baby only drinks 20 to 25 ounces of milk a day. ?
She does projectile vomiting once or twice a day. Doctor wants me to give her Zantac twice a day but I don’t feel comfortable giving her meds at such a young age. What can I do to increase her milk intake? Any suggestions?

If shes formula fed try switching her to a different one. Also anywhere from 24-32 oz a day for a 5 month old is fine.

Question by Skylight: Burping baby?
Is it normal for a newborn to throw up milk/formula if they don’t burp? I tried burping my son so much this last feeding but he only burped once and then threw up this was after eating 2 ounces

Spitting up is normal, period. He might have spat up from not burping, but he might have spat up from being full, too (Even from just two ounces).
Chances are the amount he threw up is a lot less than it appears to be, too.

If its the formula is it ok to keep him on stage one for a while?even tho stage two is for 6month olds?!

Question by Mommyof3 BGB: Any suggestions on how NOT to lose it when you’re baby is sick?
My daughter has been really sick on and off since birth. Right now we are in testing mode, getting blood drawn, immune tests done, X-rays and now a CT scan is scheduled for her. This one is the scariest because they will be putting her to sleep. She’s on her 4th pneumonia and now they don’t know if the fluid ever leaves her lungs, she’s not gaining any weight and went from 30% 5 months ago to <5% weight. 3 hospitalizations for breathing issues, including NICU when born.
My problem is not only "what could it be"? I just don't know how to deal with it. It seems one second I want to cry, next I want to hide in a corner, next I want nothing more than someone to talk to about it, and next I want to scream at everyone else for being healthy! Are there any special things any of you do to deal with incredibly difficult situations like this? I've always been so lucky and not had to deal with too much stress and now I just want to throw up, I feel like every new worry is another punch in the stomach. Anyway, thanks for any help, sorry Ive asked before but haven't gotten answers. THANKS

I know this isn’t a perfect solution, but have you tried deep breathing? Breathe in through your nose snowly, about 4 seconds, into your stomach. Put your hand on your stomach so you can feel that it’s moving out instead of your chest. Hold it for about a second, then breathe out slowly through your mouth.
Maybe it can help calm some of the anxiety so you can deal with the stress a little better.

Question by kaylee2707: What exactly did your baby sleep in as a newborn?
Did you use a crib or bassinette? Has anyone used one of those bassinettes or newborn nappers that come with pack n’ plays? Did you use a blanket or swaddle the baby? Did you use one of the sleep-right positioners? A lot of details I know, but I’m curious.

bassinett, and swaddled. the first weeks they love to be swaddled. gives them that in the womb feeling. baby 2 coming in 3 weeks. have the bassinet ready again.
