About bottle feeding newborn babies…?

Question by Deannayvonne: About bottle feeding newborn babies…?
I had a friend who would lay her baby down on the couch and get a blanket and bundle it up so the bottle would lay on the blanket so it would feed the baby so she wouldn’t have to do it.
Is that bad? I heard it was.. and I didn’t say anything to her because I didn’t want her to be mad, but the baby ended up throwing up easily if you rocked him or something.
I am now 9 weeks pregnant I just want to know all the precautions I want my baby to be healthy.

Question by Lee-ann: Is it normakl for babies to throw up this much?
My daughter is 4 weeks old. She has been throwing up a lot lately. It is not everytime I feed her but a few times she will throw up so much that there is like a puddle of it. It is projectile vomiting. Is that normal?

It does not sound like projectile vomit, for it to be projectile it has to travel away from baby. Are you burping her? Is she breast fed or bottle fed? Try burping her during a feed and then after. Keep her upright after a feed for at least 20 minutes (do not lay her on her back, have her rest belly down on your chest). It is normal for baby to spit up but if you are worried then feel free to give your doctor a call.

They usually say that you should bring your baby in if they are having projectile vomit. My son never vomited and he is still teething and hasn’t had that happen. You should definitely call the doctor right away and schedule an appointment.

The saying goes that it is always better SAFE than sorry.

I wish you and your son the best and hope he gets better.
