Question by sam: Is vomiting common when babies are teething?
My 11month old is eventually getting her 1st tooth as I can see it cutting through gum line.. She has been off food for 3 days and today projectile vomited her breakfast…is this common during teething does anyone know? she doesn’t have a fever as I’ve been checking it all day and she hasn’t got loose bowels..plus her tooth has been like that since Friday-how long does it take to break through

Answer by katie95630 They usually say that you should bring your baby in if they are having projectile vomit. My son never vomited and he is still teething and hasn’t had that happen. You should definitely call the doctor right away and schedule an appointment.
The saying goes that it is always better SAFE than sorry.
I wish you and your son the best and hope he gets better.

Question by Dara: Can changing a babies formula cause projectile vomiting more than once?
I have a 4 1/2 month old baby and she has been on the Similac Alimentum which is for food allergies and colic. The reason she was put on it was b/c she was having trouble digesting her food when she was born. Well yesterday we started her on a new formula she had two 8 oz. bottles and one 4 oz., Enphamil Lipil with Iron. She also started her cereal 4 days ago. Well she was acting completely fine until I layed her down for bedtime and I gave her a little 4 oz. bottle. About 40 minutes after eating it she became restless and a little fussy but not much. Well she spit up a little but seemed fine but 15 minutes later projectile vomited. She still wasn’t that fussy just restless. Well 15 minutes later she got sick again and the vomit amount was worst. She threw up a total of 3 times and we gave her a bath and she fell asleep until this morning. She seems fine she ate a bottle of her old formula the Alimentum and she did not get sick. Was it from her formula or did she have a stomach bug?

Answer by lalalalala Spitting up is normal. Projectile vomiting is not. It would be pretty ironic that she would get a stomach bug the very day that she switched to a different formula…… but not impossible. I would talk to your doctor about ways to gently switch her over to a different formual that works for her. Babies with sensitive tummys can be tricky. Best of luck to you and that baby.
