I was born at 31 weeks many years ago. Should I let my doctor know this? Should I be concerned with having a premature baby as well?

Around two months of age babies start the teething stage. They start to drool and when you notice that they are drooling you should put a bib on them to stop any irritation that would be due to the wetness. Having and using the bib is going to stop the drooling from running down the babies chin and onto his or her neck causing a possible rash and a cranky baby when this happens.

When your baby is holding a rattle they would also be old enough to grip a teething ring. It would be a great idea to have a couple in the fridge for when your baby needs them. Do not freeze the teething ring because it will cause the baby to frost bite their hands and gums. The cool feeling of the teething ring helps the baby calm down when they start teething. It can help keep the irritation down when the teeth start to break through the skin.

You can also use some of the over the counter medications that are available. Baby Anbesol works very good, at least it did on our children. Just put a little on you finger and rub it on the babies gums. It has a numbing feeling and will help the baby stop crying because his or her gums are hurting because of the teeth breaking through.

Usually the first tooth will appear around six to nine months. However if you or any other close family member had teeth sooner your baby’s teeth may come sooner too. No matter what, when that tooth come out it will need to be cleaned. You can clean your baby’s teeth using a washcloth or a soft toothbrush. Make sure that you are careful when cleaning the teeth. Don’t forget that the gums can still be tender so use care when performing this task.

When your child has many teeth that have popped through you can begin to introduce flossing. When your child tries to floss it will teach them some fine motor skills.

Studies done by the American Dental Association have proved that, tooth brushing alone only removes about forty percent of food that will stick to the teeth. Without this flossing, cavities and nasty breath is sure to come quicker. Teaching your child to floss can be an interesting task. Sometimes easier said than done. I know I still have trouble doing this. But with consistent effort, they will learn how to do it.

A dentist needs to see your child twice per year. Your child should see their dentist when they are able to sit for as long as ten minutes. This needs to be done by the time your child turns three years old. Having the dentist check over and clean the child’s teeth is one of the most important things that you can do.

You want your child to have healthy teeth and the dentist is important. Catch the problems before they become cavities.

For months my baby was fine with the normal diaper wipes. But recently she started getting diaper rash. If we skip the wipes and instead rinse her after every change she is fine. The wipes are non-allergenic, but give her a rash anyway.

Washing her after every change is a solution but it is much harder than the wipes.

Does anyone know of wipes that would be gentler – or is a cream a better solution?

Thank you for the help. Have a great day.
