My 9 month old baby has had diarrhea for 2 weeks, no vomitting or a fever. What do I do??

She also has a really bad rash, I’ve been putting Balmex on her bottom, is there anything better??? Thank you sooooooooooo much!

It can be from something she is eating . Eliminate foods you may be giving her. Not sure what diaper creams are good , I usually use Vaseline to prevent rashes. If her diarrhea gets bad contact her dr. good luck
if shes had it for 2 weeks take her to a dr…there could be something wrong…also,it could be that shes allergic to milk,or rice or any number of things…..
soothing oatmeal baths with warm water, looser diaper (if you can), baby oil thin coat or even try the extra strength balmex
Take her to the Doctor. Little ones can get dehydrated very fast. After two weeks she should be seen by a doctor.

If it is true diarrhea she may already be very de-hydrated and in need of some very essential minerals and salts. Don’t delay; get her to a doctor even though she has no fever or vomiting. At best he will charge you too much and tell you to go home and don’t worry about it. But you will have some piece of mind and that is worth something. At worst you kid is really sick and possibly in trouble. Find out and get it taken care of…err on the side of safety.

so your baby is 9 months…. any dietary changes in the 2or3 days before the diarrhea started? does she has any stomach pain/ well i know it’s kind of hard to know, but does she cry more than usual?/ and is there’s a yes to these questions try to remove the food and give her a medicine suitable for her age. the last advise is in case you can’t reach a doc.

If you haven’t taken her to a doctor, please do so. Make sure she does not become dehydrated, give her pedialyte popsicles(they’re great) or some other form of hydrater. As for the rash I always used Sudocrem, it is the best, My doc calls it the “miracle diaper rash cream” if that does not work your doctor can prescribe a diaper rash cream. Keep it dry and let her go with no diaper for a bit (I know, easier said than done) but it really helps it heal, bacteria grows in dark damp places (ie. daipers).

Is the poop greenish? Rash and diarrhea are often accompanied by a fever when babies are teething.
Probably multiple teeth will break through at one time. My son terribly sick for weeks and got four new ones in the end.
If her gums look red and you the gums themselves, you might even feel the teeth right underneath the surface. If you don’t see or feel anything, though, it might be something completely different that needs a trip to the pediatrician.
Take the baby to your pediatrician to see what the cause is get the medication your baby needs, there are various causes all the way up to an intestional infection, you can also call him on the phone make your child gets plenty of fluids, and give some pedialyte to replenish vitamins and minerals and water loss to prevent dehydration and don’t wait too long do it as soon as possible.
are you giving your baby juice? if you give your baby lots of juice it will cause them to have runny stools, and can also cause a rash. friut will sometimes do that. when buying diaper cream look for the one with the highest amount of zinc oxide- its what helps heal and protect from rashes. 40% is the best i think you can get nowadays. balmex normally only has 11%. i hope this helps.
I have to agree with your first response – my first thought was the baby’s diet. Like pimples that show up on your buttocks, it’s from something you’re eating (in one end and out the other?!).
Try to narrow down what’s been different diet-wise in the last two weeks, eliminate the possible culprit, and see what happens.
(Of course we never want to ‘wait’ too long, when it comes to our babies’ health and well-being.)
Corn starch is a good absorbent (for your baby’s bottom), with no chemical irritants.

TAKE THE BABY TO THE DOCTOR. At that age diarrhea for 2 wks she is most likely dehydrated and I am willing to bet that when you take her to the doctor the baby will be admitted to the hospital so that they can give her an IV to rehydrate her. It could be a virus or an allergy.
BAG BALM for the diaper rash. Wal~Mart carries it in the Pet section. I used it on all 5 of my children. It works better than the diaper rash medicines. If you have changed diapers or wipes recently it could well be the cause. One of my children was allergic to all of the wipes and I finally found the one type of diapers my child could ware. It took me about 4 mos. to figure out That is was a multiple problem and the solution
Make sure she is drinking lots of fluids, maybe there is something she’s eating that’s not agreeing with the stomach. Talk to your doctor he/she will help you pin point the problem. Make sure not to leave the dirty diaper on too long, use Penetin (sp ?) crean or the Aveeno diaper rash cream works grrrreat, sometimes Vaseline can make it worse if their skin is sensitive. Diarrhea for two weeks in a nine month old is a serious situation, they dehydrate very quickly. A little diarrhea for a few days that resolves is generally treated at home, but for this you need to take her to the doctor and find out what’s going on.
She probably has a horrible rash because the diarrhea is acidic and is eating away at her poor bottom. You need to treat the diarrhea first before you can fix her bottom. After that it will be easy to fix.
See you health visitor or doctor. They can help you properly.

See your doctor or practice nurse. The child will be dehydrated if this continues and might need saline powders.The rash is as a result of the bowel irritation. Johnson’s baby oil is always good for any rash or irritation but do see your medical adviser.
If she’s had diarrhea for 2 weeks she needs to go to a dr whether or not she’s had a fever or vomiting.
For the rash, try coating it in Bag Balm and dusting it with cornstarch baby powder.
PLEASE TAKE HER TOT HE DOCTOR! my friends baby was admitted for dehydration. just had diarrhea. thought it was something he ate. we dont know what cused it, but the reason he was in the hospital was the dehydration.
