a lot of people say that you should wait 1 month until you go out with your newborn baby… why is that? what is the purpose of that? what are the consequences if you dont wait?

My baby girl was born october 15th, the first time i took her oudoors was exaxtly one week later, and shes been fine ever since! Just do not take them out in wind/snow/rain!
I always go grocery shopping and such right away. As for trips outside and long mall trips or car rides they say 6 weeks so that your babies immune system has a chance to kick in.
i took my baby out after 2 days the air does them good! just keep them warm x
As soon as you’re out of the hospital. There is no reason to stay indoors! Babies can be protected from any weather except maybe extreme heat.
Depending on the weather of course…i wouldnt take a newborn out in -40 weather for nothing important. However, that being said I am all for going wherever whenever you want. I dont think having a newborn is an excuse to stay at home and do nothing. The sooner you get going with him/her the easier it will be to travel with them later. I have a 3 month old and it was about 2 weeks before I took her on her first shopping trip..but that was only because I had surgery immed. after birth and couldnt get around too well before that.
I took my three day old out to a local garden centre and I had all the older people commenting that surely it was a little early to bring her out.The younger moms just cooed over her.
I understand that you used to be advised to wait a month MANY years ago,but there really is no reason why.
I had to take mine out straight away to get the others to school.
I would say that when you feel strong enough,it is fine to go out.
Go show off your beautiful baby as soon as you are ready :0) !!!!

Technically a babys immune system is stronger the first 6 months than it is after. The baby gets your antibodies during pregnancy, but they wear off after 6 months. You would be better off taking them out during the 1st 6 months than from 6 months to a yr or so when they make their own antibodies..
You took your baby “out” to get her home from the hospital. There is nothing about being outside that is dangerous or unhealthy for your child. My daughter was born on Sunday and was at church with me the following Sunday. I think what you are really worried about is the people your child will come in contact with. Keep her in the car seat with a blanket over her. People can see her face and tell you how cute she is and not be able to touch her. There is no need to over protect your baby.
Whoever are “a lot of people”?
That’s an ancient myth. How do you think people get home from the hospital! Your baby can go out just as soon as you feel up to it, provided he/she is suitably dressed.
Go out when you feel ready to. I brought my son out before he was a week old. Just watch out for germy hands that want to touch.
