How long do baby diapers last?

My 5 month old has out grown a lot of his diapers. Obviously I don’t want to throw them away…how long will they “be good” for? I’m thinking of saving them for the next baby but that won’t be for at least 2-3 years.

They will last, but a better idea would be to donate them to a charity or a friend.
if they are still packaged up, you might be able to save them, but it not the exposure to the air will break them down over time… they lose their padding after a few years.. i know because i still have some sitting in my closet LOL
Erm, I don’t exactly understand, but as long as they aren’t decaying, they’re fine. Oh, and make sure that they’re not used, lol, that would be bad.
They don’t have an expiration date.
We did the same thing–we have diapers from 2005 that are still good.

u can save the diapers, sometimes they sit at the warehouse or store for that long before anyone buys them, they would be okay, or give them to someone that recently had a baby. If you dont know anyone, take them to the hospital, a local shelter, or a school (high school for student moms). At my school, they can’t keep diapers on supply.
I used left over pampers, that friends gave me with no problems. They were anywhere from 1-3 years old that their kids out grew.
I’m not sure but i doubt that they will last that long give them to a charity someone could really benefit from them
You could save them for a next baby if you wanted, or just donate them to a friend or family member (or even local charity). I had a pack of diapers which my son out grew, but knew I sould be having more kids so I just saved it for the next one. But that’s just me.
If you mean cloth diapers , they are usually still good , and will last for the second child . If you mean plastic diapers , you should seal the box with tape until you put them to use again .

If the packs are still sealed, you can exchange them for bigger ones. Other than that, you can keep them, or donate them.
Diapers do have an expiration date but even the companies say their products will still be just as good. I think if it’s sealed then why not save them
well you should save them if you’re sure you are having another (my mom did the same i was potty trained at a very young age so she saved the leftover for my brother) lol
and my brother and i are six years apart!!! diapers have no experation date
they will last at least 5 years in good shape, even more. This happened to me and I was able to used them with no troubles
i kept diapers from my 1st son he was 2 when my 2nd was born and he used them just fine
If they are still in the package I say save them and use them for the next one
the silicone gel they now use in them will breakdown over time and then when you went to use it – they wouldn’t be as effective. I’d suggest if you have packages of them to put up on Craigslist either for sale or for someone who needs them

there are all areas in the US – I have found many items for my daughter on my local craigslist – clothes that are 1/3 the price of new and are amazing !! loads of things are on here for free too… check it out .
That or if you did want to donate them – think about a local battered women’s shelter – many of these women leave with young children with no means of income. check through local Department of Social Services.

You’ll know when you pull the box out if the box is dusty obviously they’ve been in there a bit, I’m currently saving all of mine but my daughter’s 6 months and I’m pregnant again. I agree with the charity idea if it may be awhile before the next one comes along.
From the way you asked your question, I’m making the assumption that you mean cloth diapers.
If you just pack them away like you would any other form of clothing that you plan on storing for awhile then they will be just fine. By saving them for the next child you save yourself the expense of buying another supply for your second child, that is quite an expense and in 2 or 3 years, who knows how much more they would cost then.
Just make sure you launder them real good, do not use any bleach on them because that will destroy the fibers. You should never use bleach on cloth diapers . . . . . . ever, for that reason.
Make sure they are dried properly and wrapped where bugs can’t get into them. Store them in a cool dry place so they don’t get mildewed. If you properly package them, they should last for a long time and be just fine for use with your next baby.
