How do you know if the baby peed in its diaper? :s?

I am going to be a first time mommy in march
I am just wondering, how do I find out the baby has a wet diaper? :S
Do you actually check your baby’s diaper every 30mins? :S
How often in a day does an average baby wet its diaper? (just trying to get a rough idea)
I am so excited about my baby, but I feel scared of hurting it as babies are so very delicate, esp newborns

They pee all the time.
Odds are.. when you change the diaper it’s going to be a bit wet.
I would say I use 10 a day or so.
Pinch the diaper from the outside of the clothing, if it is jelly feeling it is wet. Don’t worry you’ll get the hang of it all.
Pampers does make a newborn diaper that has a “urine indicator”. Basically there is a line running down the front that will change color once the diaper is wet.
I just changed my son whenever he fed as a newborn(unless he needed it sooner like a poopy diaper). If the diaper wasn’t wet then I would check it in another 30 minutes or so. You can usually tell if it’s wet just by feeling the outside of the diaper anyway.
Our son went through at least 12 diapers/day as a newborn.
The diaper will feel puffy when it is wet. I did not check his diaper every 30 minutes…typically I would feed him (as a newborn it is every 2-3 hours) and then change him. They also poop pretty frequently, so you’ll usually get a change or two in between the change after feedings.
Well if its a little squishy then they have pee’d also newborn urine has a certian smell. Most newborn diapers now days Huggies and Pampers both do this, have a line on the outside of the diaper that changes color when the baby pee’s. You go through alot of diapers a day especially with newborn because you don;t want to leave them in them too long. I forget how many iwent through with my son.
When you have your baby you’ll catch right on. When a diaper wet, you can totally tell. It will bulge out a little, and if it’s really wet (like after he/she wakes up in the morning) it will even feel full. You don’t really need to check your baby’s diaper every 30 minutes. If it’s stinky, believe me, you will be able to tell, and a little bit of urine in a baby’s diaper is ok for a little while since diapers tend to wick moisture away from the skin and is sterile.
I change my 17 month old’s diaper every 2-3 hours and every time I smell a poo poo diaper. Congratulations on your pregnancy, and I know you’ll be a great Mom!
most diapers have a great little line on them that change color when wet. But if yours dont, you can just feel the diaper, it will be a bit moist if wet.
3 Ways; Either your Baby will be Crying (because it’s wet & uncomfortable), or you’ll notice the “smell” (and it WON’T be sweet), OR- you’ll be holding it in your lap -& you’ll notice there’s warm “water” running down your leg (a SURE Sign, -THAT One !).
Believe me; you’ll KNOW- one way or another !!! Have good pregnancy !
you can normally tell by looking i changed my son at every feed as a newborn in between sides (he was/is b/f) also he had pooped at every change as well i’d say we went through 10 or so nappies in 24 hrs as i would change him through the night when he feed.
now we go through 7 or so nappies in 24 hrs he is almost 9 mths.
i don’t check his nappy every 30 mins maybe every hr or so if he is pooped you can smell it so normally bout 5 or so mins after he is pooped i will change him so i can let him finish
it is a very exciting time don’t feel scared about hurting bub you will get the hang of it.
I’m assuming you mean disposable diapers? Sometimes you can just feel it. It will feel “mushy” (my hubby’s words, not mine). It’s especially easy to tell when they’re soaked. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if they’ve only peed a little and the diapers are super absorbent. When our baby was first born, the midwife had us put a folded Kleenex in the baby’s diaper so we could tell. That really helped! We could always tell if she’d peed because the tissue would be wet even if the diaper felt dry from the outside.
There’s no need to check every 30 minutes. The hospital told us to change the diaper either before or after a feeding. If you plan on breastfeeding, baby will eat every 2-3 hours (3-5 for formula fed) and that’s frequent enough. Babies wet 5-8 times a day. I think I change my daughter about that much.
Pampers Swaddlers has a yellow line on their diapers that turns blue when baby is wet. It’s really nice and we got a lot of those as gifts and got spoiled! Now we buy the store brand (Target) because it’s a lot less expensive and just as good. I’d add different brands to your baby registry so you can try them out and find out which ones you like.
Don’t be scared about hurting the baby. Babies are tougher than they look. You really can’t hurt them changing a diaper unless they’ve got bad diaper rash (and that’s what diaper rash cream is for!). Just relax and enjoy your new baby. Good luck and congrats!
feels like a sponge through the pants. it’s easy to detect a wet diaper.
Well, obviously the diaper will be heavier and you can actually see it from the outside. Babies pee all the time so you just have to check on him/her every time.
