Does my 2 year old daughter have something OTHER than diaper rash?

It seems irritated and red on her private area but she seems to be bothered by it much more than a diaper rash ever has. I’m a single dad and wondering if I should take her to the doctor. I’ve been using Destin today but she hasn’t had a diaper rash for over a year. When I applied the Destin and touched around that area, she began to cry. I’ve never seen this before and am concerned. Should I take her in or is this something that will pass shortly?

Poor baby, she could have a yeast infection, take her to the doc. And I hope you in the process of potty training.
maybe a reaction to the brand of diapers my daughter had tht with huggies and if its not the brand of diapers i dont know
If the desitin doesn’t help you should take her to the doctor.
It’s possible she may have a diaper rash along with a slight yeast infection. My daughter had the same thing a couple months ago. If that’s what it is then she will need a prescription cream for it so I would suggest calling your doctor. Like I said my daughter had the same thing and the Desitin didn’t seem to clear it up which it usually does within a day. Better to call and be on the safe side.

If this doesn’t look like a normal diaper rash I would take her in to the doctor just to be on the safe side. Girls unlike boys need more care in that area. When you wipe her you should wipe her from front to back to help avoid infections. It could be a yeast infection or possibly a bladder or kidney infection. She could be more bothered because it has been a while since she has had one. What I would do is for the next twenty four hours is give her an oatmeal bath (stay away from most wipes as the contain alcohol which will only irritate it more use a wet soft terry washcloth instead)…Aveeno makes one…you can also make a paste with it to cover the affected area this helps to draw out the redness and pain if it is a diaper rash. You may have to reapply if she potties. After I would say about two to four hours…do not reapply the oatmeal paste anymore just let it get air. Do not put a diaper back on her unless it is bed time. Keep a towel under her if you are worried about a mess. For a diaper rash this has always cleared it up within twenty-four hours…
My step-son was always brought to my husband for visitations with bloody diaper rashes…and it was always gone before his return to his mother. My daughter on the other hand was always getting yeast infections due to just being in a diaper. If she had a bowel movement and with girls in diapers everything goes forward instead of back…we got out of diapers as soon as we could. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
She could have a yeast or fungal infection. Since you’re a first timer with it don’t try to discern which, just take her to the doctor and get a prescription. After you can tell the difference you can just pick up over the counter stuff for it.

sounds like a yeast infection. Take her to the doc and he’ll probably give you prescription cream and I would add lots of yogurt to her diet.

It could be diaper rash or even a heat rash if it is been warm where you are lately. If the Desitin doesn’t clear it up by tomorrow, I would call the doctor. In the meantime, keep her as dry as possible and if it seems painful, perhaps a children’s pain reliever might help to keep her pain level down.

I have to agree with the majority, it sounds like a yeast infection. My daughter had a horrible one after being in the hospital on an IV because she was dehydrated, she had so much fluids being pumped into her that her diaper was constantly wet and thus created a yeast infection. Her pediatrician prescribed an ointment but the infection did not clear up from it and she had to actually take an oral medication. She was very red and raw and very uncomfortable, please seek proper medical attention for your daughter to find out exactly what is going on.
