Difference between staph and yeast diaper rash?

Can a doctor/NP tell the difference between a staph diaper rash and a yeast diaper rash just by looking? What’s the difference? I didn’t think to ask for a test to confirm the diagnosis. I have a yeast infection in my breasts, so I was thinking her diaper rash was yeast.
I just hate to put my baby on antibiotics if she doesn’t need them.
Thanks!

if it is yeast then she might just have some nystatin cream- they can tell- it looks different. a yeast rash kinda looks pimpley
Whatever it may be antibiotics will do nothing to your child unless your child has a allergic to it, if not then antibiotics will do good for the baby system and clean out bacteria.
Yeast rash looks very similar to chaffing, or like a layer of skin is missing, and has little white bumps, like tiny pimples. It can also smell kinda weird.
Yeast rash can easily be identified by the fact that if you smooth on a little plain yogurt, during diaper changes, (every 2 hours, wet or not) it will clear up a little within 6 hours.
Staph looks more like abscessed skin, with lesions. While its possible for both to bleed, its more common in Staph.
If using disposable diapers, test your baby. Wet the diaper with water, break open the inside, and rub the crystal-like substance on Baby’s back, along with a piece of the cotton/pulpy lining. The back has pretty delicate, but resilient skin. Look to see if Baby breaks out with irritation. He/she may be allergic to the chemicals used for absorbency or one of the possible 25+ types of trees they may have used to make the diaper. This was the case with my firstborn who had a rash that got so bad and infected, no matter what we did it wouldn’t go away. They told me it was Staph. It started when she was less than a month old.
When the rash clears up, try using a diaper area wash like the one Burtsbees puts out, or the Diaper Lotion Potion by Kissaluvs. 1 bottle goes a very long way, and if you spray it at the first sign of redness, and use it for the day…it prevents both infections. The mild witch hazel formula, and tea tree (has wonderful antibacterial properties) prevents growth. I like them both equally, but think the Concentrate by Kissaluvs is a better deal. I use it on my 2 youngest children, when needed, and have had it for 5 months, with plenty left.
Caution: do not use with open soars on bum, it stings!
if they are competent they should be able to tell the diff by looking…
