Coughing and vomiting after pyloric stenosis surgery?
Question by newmom2105: Coughing and vomiting after pyloric stenosis surgery?
My 6-week old son had surgery for pyloric stenosis 3 days ago. He has stopped vomiting immediately after feeding but instead now coughs and vomits because of a gag reflex brought on by the coughing. The vomiting is still projectile sometimes. Is this normal? Could the tube inserted during general anesthesia be causing the coughing and iritation?

I wish that i could answer that but you should be calling the doctor instead of asking on here also your baby is so small maybe you need to take him in to the emergency.

you should contact the doctor and ask b/c it may be fatal, if he doesnt throw up the vomit may slip down into his lungs and he could drown eternally
Call the doctor or hospital.
no, no, no! Call his doctor. My son had the same surgery and after the initial first two hours of soreness…absolutely no more progectile and coughing should be present after the first few hours after. Please contact the hospital or doctor. After Mikey’s surgery for the first 4 hours his throat was super sore but I was told he would be perfectly fine right away..>I was so shocked but it was absolutely true!
